Toast, 3/18/11

My first meal in Charleston, while not nearly as elaborate as the others, was a wonderful introduction to hearty Southern food. Toast, home of the Bottomless Mimosa, had a charming atmosphere and friendly service.

Bottomless Mimosa

After hours on the road (I’d flown into Charlotte, NC and driven the 200+ miles to Charleston), I was famished. Everything on the menu looked fantastic, but my friend Cynthia recommended a dish that was right up my alley: the Eggs Meeting Street. The dish is a Lowcountry twist on eggs benedict with a fried green tomato topped with a crab cake, poached egg and Lowcountry remoulade sauce, served with grits.
